All diagrams are drawn from scratch by us and used reference from various Jaguar resources to enable an as complete as possible technically correct set of data sheets E&OE

these are for the most part the same on all XJ cars built after 1978 however as yet do not include data for the MKIII system which was fitted to some cars built later in production run of series. This data will be on this site at a later date.

The MKIII system is most notable for the large black ECU mounted on the right hand side of the main AC unit and has many multi pin small connectors on it. Under no circumstances should any of the connectors be allowed to short with each other or the vehicles positive or negative supplies as instant irreversible damage WILL occur

Thermostat

Temperature Thermostat

Location: Left hand side of AC unit
Where on inlet pipe just above side air duct
Fixing: two pozidrive No.3 screws

Amplifier

Amplifier Module

Location: Under the AC unit on the LH Side
Where: Behind the Main relay
Fitting: One large clip, pulls forward to remove
Ranco
Ranco Thermostat
LOCATION: RH Side of AC unit
Where: Top Middle above linkages
Fitting: One 9/16 Nut (note: the probe is inserted at least 10cmm into the evaporator
Res Pack

Resistor Pack

Location: left hand side of AC unit
Where: just by the heater outlet pipe
Fixing 3 pozidrive No. 3 screws

Main relay

Main Relay

Where: Near the bottom where the console ends.
Fixing: 2 x 10mm nuts (requires a slim sided socket to remove and as a earth point on one of the fixings which also holds the vacuum solenoid.

Actuator

This one is located on the Left hand side of the AC Unit

Non AC Main relay

No Aircon main relay

Location: Right hand side of AC Unit
Where: lower edge forward of the bulkhead
Fixings: Hidden by a cover but held by a tab and 1 x 10mm nut

Servo Drive Servo Unit Drive control

Location: Right hand side of AC Unit
Where: lower edge forward of the bulkhead
Fixings: Hidden by a cover but held by a tab and 1 x 10mm nut

Vacuum Solenoid Vacuum Solenoid

 

Location: Left hand side of AC unit
Where: to the Left of the main relay
Fixing: 10mm nut shared with Main relay and earth point. Requires the use of a slim walled socket.
