Jaguars new XF has taken top honours award at the annual Whatcar? motoring “oscars” 2008, now in its 31st year, beating 14 winners at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane. The XF shone through to take the award.

Whatcars? Editor Steve Fowler is reported as saying “It's a crucial time for Jaguar as the sale of the company draws closer. Judging by the XF, its future looks very good indeed.”

The Jaguar XF has it all - it has fantastic looks combined with a luxury futuristic interior giving a real sense of quality. Plus it does what it is meant to very well as the drive is truly fantastic
“When you consider the quality of the opposition it beat to win the Best Executive Car Award, it was an obvious choice for the overall Award” a spokes person said.

Managing Director of Jaguar Cars - Mike O'Driscoll,  said: “Jaguar is creating a new generation of cars that started with the XK, and now continues with the all-new XF – a four door, five passenger car that has the heart of a sports car and the looks of a grand tourer . . . We're very pleased with the reaction that the car has received, and our customer order bank is growing fast. We're grateful to What Car? for this wonderful award.”

When asked by the BBC's Declan Curry, what the XF meant to Jaguar Mr O'Driscoll said the XF is "Brimming with new technology" referring to the lack of traditional gear lever he smiled and said "This is shift by wire" , Mr O'Driscoll summed it all up by saying the XF was "a ground up all new Jaguar" and "the very best of British design" And we would have to agree
